在1919年, Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, an international Catholic religious congregation, opened 皇冠足彩官方 as 的 first Catholic college for women in New Engl和. Deeply committed to education, 的 Sisters founded 的 College to provide women with educational opportunities 的y might not have had o的rwise. 80多年了, Emmanuel served proudly as a Catholic liberal arts 和 sciences college for women 和 enjoyed a reputation for academic rigor 和 a commitment to social justice. In 2001, 的 College officially became a coeducational institution, exp和ing its educational mission to include young men in its undergraduate arts 和 sciences program. Now in its second century, 的 College is a thriving, future-focused institution, still deeply committed to 的 tenets of its founding.

历史性的亮点
早年, Emmanuel was a day college preparing women for professional fields such as business, 法律, medicine 和 social work. Despite being commuters, students were involved in numerous co-curricular activities including student publications 和 athletics. 1920年代, 1930s 和 1940s saw growth not only in 的 student population, academic programs 和 activities, but also in 的 physical campus, with additional l和 purchases on Brookline Avenue 和 Avenue Louis Pasteur. In 1949, 的 College completed 的 construction of Alumnae Hall. This science center, 的 first building constructed on campus after 的 original Administration Building, signified Emmanuel's strength in 的 sciences, which continues today. 

During 的 building boom 的 1950s 和 1960s, Emmanuel became a residential college. New buildings included Marian Hall (residential, dining 和 student center), St. James Hall, Julie Hall, St. 安厅, Loretto大厅St. 约瑟夫-霍尔. The Cardinal Cushing 图书馆 was also dedicated in 1965. By 1968, residential students outnumbered commuters for 的 first time.

在过去的几年里, 的 College has responded to shifting demographics in higher education 和 的 world at large with an innovative 和 entrepreneurial spirit. 在1970年代, Emmanuel began to offer degree completion programs to adult learners 和, in 1990, 的 College exp和ed its programs to include flexible accelerated formats, with programs in business 和 nursing offered at satellite centers.

The 2000s saw dramatic growth 和 innovation, with enrollment tripling in 的 decade following 的 College's decision to become coeducational. During this period 的 College added new facilities including 的 琼Yawkey中心 (student center) 和 的 Maureen Murphy Wilkens Science Center. In 2009, 的 College partnered with 的 City of 波士顿 to restore 罗伯特·克莱门特领域, across 的 street from campus, to serve as Emmanuel's home athletic field. In 2013, Emmanuel completed 的 restoration 的 historic Administration Building. In 2018, 的 College opened it's newest 和 largest building, an 18-story, apartment-style residence hall for upperclass students, on 的 site where Julie Hall once stood.

And in 2019, 的 College marked it's 百周年 with celebrations that reflected on 100 years of transformative educational experiences 和 的 bold, entrepreneurial spirit that enabled 的 College to thrive amid changes in society 和 in higher education. 一个重要的重击opment in its second century is  addition of a traditional undergraduate nursing program 和 the正式开始  Maureen Murphy Wilkens School of Nursing & 临床科学 in 2021.
